Women's Volleyball Goes 1-2 at Own Hilltop Invitational

The Culver-Stockton women's volleyball team captured one of three matches during the Hilltop Invitational Saturday at Charles Field House in Canton, Mo.

The Wildcats opened the day with an easy three-set victory over Hannibal-LaGrange University. C-SC won the match by scores of 25-15, 25-14, 25-6. 

The Wildcats recorded a season-high 13 service aces in the match with the Trojans. Lexia Capes did the most damage, registering five service aces in just one set of play. Layla Lojas added three aces while Victoria Pollard had two aces.

Four players had at least seven kills in the match with Lojas leading the way with nine terminations. Emma Daleen chipped in with eight kills, while Pollard and Zoe Irvin garnered seven kills each.

Defensively, Pollard led the back row with a match high 15 digs while Daleen and Faith Hopgood had each had three block assists at the net.

in their second match of the day, the University of St. Mary held off the Wildcats in the first set and went on to post a 25-19, 25-17, 25-12 victory over C-SC.

The Wildcats managed just 18 kills overall in the match with Lojas and Daleen getting four each. Lojas added seven digs in the back row.

C-SC concluded the day with a 25-20, 25-16, 25-19 setback to Stephens College. 

Pollard registered a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs in the match. Daleen was next with eight kills, while Jetzabelle Rivera totaled a team-high 13 digs.

The Wildcats (7-16) are scheduled to host nationally-ranked Central Methodist University this Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Charles Field House. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
