Women's Volleyball Rebounds from Loss to Pick Up Solid Road Victory at William Penn

The Culver-Stockton women's volleyball team had four players register double digits in kills in a four-set Heart of America Athletic Conference victory at William Penn University Saturday afternoon in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

The Wildcats, who finish their three-match road trip through Iowa with a 2-1 record, rebounded from a loss at Grand View Friday night with a 25-23, 25-17, 14-25, 25-18 victory over the Statesmen.

Zoe Irvin led the C-SC quartet with 13 kills from her outside spot while Ashleigh Brawley recorded 12 terminations in the middle. Victoria Pollard and Abby Godwin were also in double figures with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. 

After hitting just four percent in the loss to Grand View, the Wildcats attacked at 23 percent in the victory Saturday. Brawley was especially effective with just one error on 27 attempts for a .407 hitting percentage.

Brawley was also a factor on defense with six block assists. C-SC recorded seven team blocks in the match after not registering a block in the loss to Grand View. 

The Wildcats also put four players in double figures in digs with Kyla Ellis guiding the Wildcats with 21. Pollard and Godwin garnered 14 and 13 digs, respectively, while Lauren Bloom had 12 digs. Ellis was also had decent service game with a team high four service aces.

C-SC, now 11-6 overall and 3-2 in the Heart, returns home this Friday, Oct. 4, against Peru State College at Charles Field House. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
