Women's Lacrosse Falls to Life at Home
The Culver-Stockton women's lacrosse team put 14 of their 17 total shots on goal but managed just five goals in a 15-5 loss to fifth-ranked Life University (Ga.) Sunday afternoon at Ellison Poulton Stadium.
The Wildcats trailed 4-0 after one period and 6-1 at halftime despite putting eight shots on goal in the first 30 minutes of play. C-SC was outshot in the first half 14-11 overall.
In the second half, the Wildcats recorded just six shots on goal but scored on four of them to stay within striking distance after three quarters of play, trailing 10-4. However, the Eagles blitzed the Wildcats in the fourth quarter, outscoring C-SC 5-1 in the period.
Kaleigh Poe led the Wildcats with three goals, scoring on all three shots she attempted. Two of her goals came on free position shots.
Addison Holm contributed the other two goals and added the assist on Poe's first goal for the Wildcats. Holm also led the Wildcats with five draw controls and two caused turnovers.
C-SC committed 25 turnovers to Life's 16 miscues, while Life had a 13-9 edge in draw controls in the game. Life was 14-for-16 on clears while C-SC was 16-for-20. Life was 2-for-8 on free position shots and C-SC was 3-for-4.
The Wildcats (2-5) are scheduled to host another ranked opponent this Sunday, March 22, when sixth-ranked Keiser University (Fla.) visits Ellison Poulton Stadium. The opening draw is slated for 11 a.m.
