Holm, Poe Notch Six Goals Each in Victory over Eastern Oregon
The Culver-Stockton women's lacrosse team won its second straight home match with a 13-8 non-conference victory over Eastern Oregon University Monday afternoon at Ellison Poulton Stadium.
The Wildcats, playing short-handed due to injuries, got six goals each from Addison Holm and Kaleigh Poe to improve their record to 6-4 overall. Holm registered four of her six goals in the first half as the Wildcats built an 8-5 halftime advantage. Poe added three goals in each half to keep the Mountaineers at a distance.
In addition to Holm and Poe, Mia Naughton notched C-SC's other goal in the game. Bella Olson chipped in with three assists, increasing her career school record total to 31.
Defensively, Jillian Vervynck started in goal and stopped nine of the Mountaineers' 17 shots on goal. Eastern Oregon committed 34 turnovers in the match with the Wildcats forcing 20 of them. Holm and Olson caused four miscues each.
The Wildcats are slated to play a Heart of America Athletic Conference match this Thursday, March 27, at Midland University in Fremont, Neb. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
