Women's Lacrosse Suffers First Loss at No. 6 Missouri Baptist
The Culver-Stockton women's lacrosse team was outshot 46-13 as it suffered a 20-4 loss to sixth-ranked Missouri Baptist University Thursday morning at the Lou Fusz Athletic Training Center in Bridgeton, Mo.
The Spartans scored the first six goals of the game before the Wildcats' Addison Holm stopped the onslaught with the first of her three goals in the game. Missouri Baptist eventually built a 12-3 halftime lead and led 14-3 after three quarters.
C-SC, which only had two shots in the final 30 minutes of the game, won the majority of the draw controls during the contest (15-12) but had trouble getting in the offensive zone after defensive stops, registering just six clears on 16 attempts. Meanwhile, the Spartans were a perfect 12-for-12 on clear attempts.
The Wildcats also committed 26 turnovers while Missouri Baptist gave the ball away 16 times with only three being forced by the Wildcats.
In addition to Holm's three goals, Kaelin Quarles notched the Wildcats' only other goal on her only shot attempt of the game. Bella Olson recorded the only assist for C-SC.
C-SC (1-1) is scheduled to start Heart of America Athletic Conference play this Saturday, Feb. 22, at Missouri Valley in Marshall, Mo. The opening draw is set for 1 p.m.
