Women's Basketball Defeats Truett McConnell at Warner Classic

The Culver-Stockton women's basketball team held Truett McConnell (Ga.) University to seven first half points en route to a 56-36 victory in its first game at the Warner University Classic in Lake Wales, Fla., Friday afternoon.

The Wildcats limited the Bears to just one field goal on 25 attempts in the first half, including none on 11 attempts in the second quarter. TMU was 0-for-9 from the 3-point stripe in the first half.

Meanwhile the Wildcats also struggled in the opening period, making just two field goals on nine attempts. However, they were a perfect 7-for-7 from the foul line and led 12-3 after 10 minutes.

C-SC found its shooting touch in the second quarter, draining 53 percent of its shots, to grab a 35-7 halftime advantage.

The Wildcats were led by Nevaiah Bell-Tenner, who registered a double-double, netting 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. 

Avery Oetting added nine points and a team-best five assists, while Paige Henson and Elly Bentley chipped in with seven point each. Ten of the 12 players who played for the Wildcats scored in the game.

The Wildcats (7-6) conclude the the first half of the season tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 20, against Warner University. Game time is slated for 4 p.m. (EST).
