Women's Basketball Suffers Third Straight Loss

The Culver-Stockton women's basketball team lost its three straight Heart of America Athletic Conference game as William Woods posted a 55-52 victory over the Wildcats at Anderson Arena in Fulton, Mo., Wednesday night.

The Wildcats had two opportunities to tie the game in the final 16 seconds but 3-point attempts by Haley Webb and Nevaiah Bell-Tenner didn't go.

C-SC shot poorly from the field, matching its lowest field goal percentage of the year of 33.9 percent. The Wildcats forced 22 Owl turnovers and took 14 more shot attempts (62-48) than the hosts but only managed to make the same number of field goals (21).

C-SC also committed a season-high 22 turnovers in the game leading to 16 William Woods points. The Wildcats managed to score just 15 points off of the 22 Owl miscues.

C-SC starters tallied all but 10 of the Wildcats' 52 points with Avery Oetting the only player to reach double figures with 11 points. Bell-Tenner had nine markers while Elly Bentley and Misora Nambara contributed eight points each.

The Wildcats also held a 37-32 edge in rebounding with Paige Henson grabbing nine caroms to lead the way. Bell-Tenner totaled seven rebounds.

The Wildcats (4-5 overall and 1-4 in the Heart) is scheduled to play a non-conference game against regional rival Hannibal-LaGrange University this Friday, Dec. 6, in Hannibal, Mo. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
