Wildcats Force 33 Turnovers in 58-point Victory over USHP

The Culver-Stockton women's basketball team forced 33 turnovers en route to an 89-31 non-conference victory over Health Science and Pharmacy (UHSP) Wednesday night at Charles Field House.

The Wildcats scored 44 points off those Eutectic miscues as the Wildcats won their second straight games and improved to 3-1 on the season.

C-SC, which led 20-11 after the first quarter, held UHSP to 5 of 17 shooting in the opening 10 minutes. Over the final 30 minutes, the Wildcats limited UHSP to just seven field goals of 46 attempts or 15 percent shooting. The Eutectics finished the game 12-for-63 from t he field and scored just 20 points after the first quarter.

Meanwhile, the Wildcats, who drained 15 3-pointers in their last game against Hannibal-LaGrange Oct. 30, continued to singe the nets from the land of three by registering 12 3-pointers Wednesday night.

Avery Oetting led the way with a game-high 26 points, hitting seven 3-pointers and giving her 15 three-pointers in the last two games. Oetting is 15-for-22 (68.2 percent) from outside the 3-point stripe in her last two games and is shooting 63.2 percent from beyond the arc overall this season. Oetting added six assists, four assists and three steals.

Joining Oetting in doubt figures was Misora Nambara and Haley Webb who garnered 13 and 12 points, respectively. Allysa O'Connor came off the bench and narrowly missed double digits, finishing with nine points. O'Conner added six rebounds, a team-best six assists, and four steals.

The Wildcats (3-1) are slated to play an exhibition at NCAA Division II McKendree University this Friday, Nov. 7, in Lebanon, Ill. Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
