Wildcats Take First Set before Succumbing to Grand View in Four

The Culver-Stockton men's volleyball team claimed the first set against Grand View University Friday night at Charles Field House.

However, the Vikings regrouped over the next three sets to grab a 21-25, 25-19, 25-16, 25-17 Heart of America Athletic Conference victory over the Wildcats.

The Wildcats was able to keep within striking distance of the Vikings throughout the match due to the defensive prowess at the net. C-SC registered 12 team blocks overall, including three solo blocks.

Zach Kowalewicz and Rio Victor each had six blocks in the game. Kowalewicz had one solo and five block assists, while Rio totaled six block assists. Bill Frederick Clarke added four block assists at the net.

Offensively, the Wildcats garnered 42 total kills with Henry Reeves leading the way with 13 terminations. Reeves committed just four errors on 28 attempts for a .321 attack percentage. Victor chipped in with eight kills and Cooper Varner had seven kills. Matt Reese led the setters with 24 set assists.

The Wildcats are scheduled to completed the weekend with another conference match Saturday against William Penn University. First serve is set for 1 p.m. at Charles Field House.
