Wildcats Attack Well, But Fall to No. 4 Valley in Three Sets
The Culver-Stockton men's volleyball team turned in one of its best hitting games of the season Tuesday night but it wasn't enough to topple fourth-ranked Missouri Valley College at Charles Field House.
The Vikings used a strong attacking and service game to post a 25-19, 25-20, 25-22 victory over the Wildcats.
C-SC had two players, Aaron Jurenka and Zach Kowalewicz with with hitting percentages over .450 with 13 or more attacks. Jurenka garnered a .533 attack percentage and did not commit an error on 15 attempts. Kowalewicz had a .462 attack percentage in the middle on 13 attempts. Both hitters led the Wildcats with eight kills each.
Henry Reeves added six terminations while Clyde Harold tallied five kills off the bench. Kirvan Hughes set the table with 17 set assists, while Matt Reese dished out 12 set assists.
The Wildcats did record five team blocks in the match with Jurenka garnering four block assists to lead the charge. However, the Vikings attack game was on point and it limited C-SC to just 14 total digs.
C-SC completes its six-match homestand this Friday with a non-conference match against Governors State University at Charles Field House, First serve is slated for 7 p.m. The varsity reserves are scheduled to play at 5 p.m.
