Men's Volleyball Drops Two Matches at HOA Challenge
The Culver-Stockton men's volleyball team is still searching for its first victory of the season after dropping its final two matches in the Heart of America Challenge at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats opened their day with a four-set loss to Brescia (Ky.) University 30-32, 25-20, 25-17, 25-12. C-SC totaled 15 kills in winning the first set; however, managed just 24 kills combined over the final three sets.
Malachi Gnade and Clyde Harold each reach double figures in kills, finishing with 10 each. Harold did not commit an attack error on 16 attempts for a .625 hitting percentage. Owen Randle contributed 19 set assists.
In their final match, the Wildcats were swept by Governors State (Ill.) by scores of 25-18, 25-22, 25-20. C-SC registered more kills than Governors State (34-33) but also had 24 attack errors to the Jaguars' 14 attack errors.
Aaron Jurenka led the Wildcats with seven terminations, all in one set, while Harold and Gnade had six kills apiece. Randle had 17 set assists while Matt Reese totaled 15 set assists.
The Wildcats (0-5) will begin their home slate next Saturday with a triangular with St. Mary of the Woods and Saint Ambrose University. C-SC is scheduled to play St. Mary of the Woods at 11 a.m. and Saint Ambrose at 3 p.m. inside Charles Field House.
