Culver-Stockton College senior Delaney Straus has been named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for her performance in the Trojan Invitational at Hannibal-LaGrange University on Saturday, Oct. 11.

Straus earned her first weekly honor of the season, and the fourth of her career, by capturing the top spot in the field of 38 runners. Straus set the women's five kilometer course record with a time of 20:05.5, breaking the previous mark set in 2023 by one minute, six seconds (21:11).

In addition, Straus helped her team claim its first team victory in school history as the Wildcats registered 42 points to hold off NCAA Division II McKendree University by two points (44). The Wildcats recorded a team time of 1:54.01. C-SC had four of its five runners finish in the top 15 in the event.

The Wildcats will have their final preparation for the conference meet this Friday, Oct. 17, when they compete at the Greenville University Classic to be contested at Hillsboro Country Club and Park District in Hillsboro, Ill. The women's race is set for 5 p.m.
