Women's Cross Country Places Fifth at Central College Invitational
The Culver-Stockton College women's cross country team competed in the Dutch Cross Country Invitational at Central College in Pella, Iowa, Friday night.
The Wildcats finished fifth overall in the seven team field with an overall time of 1:57:41.7 among their five runners. Central College captured its own event with a total time of 1:36.59.
Junior Delaney Straus was the top finisher for the Wildcats, finishing sixth overall with a time of 19:47.8. That time is the second highest recorded time for a female runner at the five-kilometer distance in school history.
Senior Faith Younce finished 34th overall with a time of 21:45.8. Sophomore Emma Berry completed the course in 59th place with a time of 23:39.9 while Zoi Smith was 70th with a time of 25:48.4. Caroline Lindsey concluded the Wildcat foursome with a time of 26:39.8, good for 74th place overall.
The Wildcats will run for the third consecutive week when they compete in the Luther All-America Invitational next Saturday, Sept. 14, in Decorah, Iowa. The women's race is slated to start at 11:45 a.m.
