Wildcat Netters Drop Heart Road Match to Missouri Baptist

The Culver-Stockton women's volleyball team turned in a solid two sets before succumbing to 17th-ranked Missouri Baptist University in a Heart of America Athletic Conference match Tuesday night in St. Louis.

In a back-and-forth first set that featured 20 ties, the Wildcats had one set point at 28-27 in the set before the Spartans reeled off the final three points to claim a 30-28 victory. C-SC fell 25-20 in the second set before running out of steam in the third set as the hosts closed out the match with 25-10 victory.

Victoria Pollard  led the Wildcats with six terminations while Layla Lojas turned in five kills. Emma Daleen and Zoe Irvin totaled four kills each. Lauren Bloom recorded 13 set assists while Jaysie Baez garnered two service aces.

Baez also led the back row with 11 digs in the match, and Faith Hopgood registered five blocks, two solo and three assists.

The Wildcats are scheduled to to play three non-conference matches this Saturday at Charles Field House. C-SC is slated to play Hannibal-LaGrange at 9:30 a.m., University of Saint Mary at 1:30 p.m. and Stephens College at 3:30 p.m.
