Netters Battle Back from 2-0 Deficit before Falling in Five to Columbia
The Culver-Stockton women's volleyball team battled back from a 2-0 deficit to take Columbia College to a fifth and deciding set before succumbing 25-17, 25-15, 20-25, 22-25, 15-10 in a non-conference match Thursday night at the Southwell Complex in Columbia, Mo.
Victoria Pollard registered a career-high 20 kills on 66 attempts, which was twice as many as any other Wildcat player, to lead the Wildcat attack. also had 15 digs in the match to record her fifth double-double of the season and the 10th of her career.
Zoe Irvin added nine kills while Jetzabelle Rivera and Layla Lojas contrabuted six terminalions each to complement Pollard's effort. Lojas also recorded 10 digs and six service aces.
Speaking of digs, Jaymie Baez totaled her Wildcat high of 29 digs to lead the C-SC back row defensively. Lael Temple and Lauren Bloom garnered 10 digs each to place five Wildcat players in double figures.
The Wildcats (6-12) return to Heart of America Athletic Conference play this Saturday, Oct. 4, against Missouri Valley College at home. Game time is slated for 2 p.m. at Charles Field House.
