Women's Volleyball Earns Heart Road Victory at Clarke

The Culver-Stockton women's volleyball team earned a hard-fought road victory Saturday afternoon at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa.

The Wildcats, who were winless in their previous four conference road games this season, overcame a 2-1 deficit to pick up a 25-21, 15-25, 15-25, 25-23, 15-12 victory over the Pride to improve to 6-9 overall and 2-5 in the Heart.

A balanced offensive attack paced the Wildcats with four players registering seven or more kills in the match. C-SC recorded 49 kills overall in the five sets, but also had 29 errors on 144 attempts for a .139 attack percentage.

Zoe Irvin led the quartet with 14 terminations and a .312 attack percentage. Victoria Pollard added 11 kills while Emma Daleen and Mikayla Ziemianski totaled eight and seven kills, respectively. 

Lauren Bloom led three setters with 26 set assists while also adding three kills on three attempts. Lael Temple chipped in with 14 set assists.

Jaysie Baez was the only player to reach double figures in digs, finishing with 21 in the match. Pollard and Bloom just missed reaching double figures, ending with nine digs each.

The Wildcats are scheduled to play their fifth straight road match this Tuesday, Sept. 23, at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo. Game time is slated for 7 p.m. at Puckett Fieldhouse.
