Road Woes Continue for Women's Volleyball

The Culver-Stockton women's volleyball team remained winless in road conference matches after a 25-17, 25-20, 25-21 loss to Mount Mercy University Friday night in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The loss drops the Wildcats to 5-9 overall and 1-5 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. Four of those five league losses have come away from Charles Field House.

Emma Daleen, returning from the injured list, led the Wildcats with seven kills on a team-high 40 attempts. Layla Lojas and Victoria Pollard added five terminations each. Lael Temple dished out 16 set assists.

C-SC was solid defensively with three different players recording 10 or more digs in the match. Jaysie Baez led that trio with 24 digs while Pollard had 21 digs. Temple recorded a double-double with 12 digs to go along her number of assists.

At the net, the Wildcats had eight team blocks with Faith Hopgood registering four total blocks with one solo and three block assists. Daleen had one solo block and two block assists, while Mikayla Ziemianski had three block assists.

The Wildcats will try to conquer the road conference woes tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 20, with a match at Clarke University in Dubuque, Iowa. That match is set to begin at 11 a.m.
