Women's Volleyball Swept by Penn in Heart Opener
The Culver-Stockton College women's volleyball team started its Heart of America Athletic Conference slate with a straight set loss to William Penn University Wednesday night at the Penn Activity Center in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
The Wildcats never found their footing in the match, falling 25-16, 25-22, 25-15. C-SC led the second set 21-19; however, the Statesmen rallied with six of the next seven points to claim the set and a take a 2-0 lead.
Zoe Irvin, who is coming off a an all-tournament performance over the weekend at the Showdown in the Woods, continued her fine play with a team-high nine kills to lead the Wildcat attack. Emma Daleen and Victoria Pollard complemented Irvin's effort with five kills each. Lauren Bloom had 19 set assists and three service aces.
Pollard turned in another strong effort in the back row with 18 digs while Mikayla Ziemianski totaled two block assists.
The Wildcats returns to action this Saturday, Sept. 6, for a road match at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. Game time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
