Women's Volleyball Finishes 4-2 at Showdown in the Woods

The Culver-Stockton women's volleyball team concluded a successful weekend by winning two out of three matches Saturday to finish with a 4-2 overall record at the Showdown in the Woods Tournament in St. Mary of the Woods, Ind.

After winning two of three Friday, the Wildcats matched that effort Saturday defeating Boyce 25-17, 22-25, 25-23, 25-19 and Mount Mary 25-15, 27-25, 25-23 to start the day. In their final match, C-SC fell to Indiana-Columbus in three sets, 25-11, 25-17, 25-18.

In the two victories Saturday, Zoe Irvin registered 27 kills, including 15 against Boyce, to lead the attack. Victoria Pollard added 18 kills and 24 digs in the two matches. Pollard also garnered four solo blocks in the victory over Boyce.

Assisting the hitters was Lauren Bloom who had 47 set assists in the three matches Saturday. Bloom had 20 assists in the three-set victory over Mount Mary.

The Wildcats (4-3) are scheduled to begin Heart of America Athletic Conference play this Wednesday, Sept. 3, against William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
