Ellis Earns Second Straight Defender of the Week Honor
Culver-Stockton College libero Kyla Ellis has been named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Defender of the Week presented by Molten for the second straight week for her performance during the Wildcats' 2-1 week, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Ellis, a senior from O'Fallon, Ill. (O'Fallon HS), averaged 6.27 digs per set in three matches last week. She registered 69 total digs, matching her season-high with 33 digs in the Wildcats' four-set victory at Stephens (Mo.) Saturday night. In addition, Ellis had a serve reception percentage of 92.6, with six errors on 81 attempts. She also recorded five set assists and five service aces from her libero position.
For the season, Ellis has compiled 299 total digs in 57 sets, averaging 5.25 digs per set, ranking second in the Heart in digs and third in digs per set. She also has a service reception percentage of 93.3 percent with 27 errors on 400 receptions and recorded 13 service aces.
The Wildcats, who are 9-5 overall and 1-1 in the Heart, are scheduled to play at Clarke University Tuesday night, Sept. 24, in Dubuque, Iowa. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
