Women's Track and Field Place Seventh in Home Meet
The Culver-Stockton women's track and field team scored 42.5 points to finish seventh in its own Wildcat Invitational at Richeson Track inside Ellison Poulton Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Washington University scored 207 team points to win the event.
Abagail Mooney was the top point-getter for the Wildcats during the event. Mooney scored points in four different events including three field events.
In her only track event, Mooney placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.59 seconds.
Turning to the field events. Mooney finished second in the pole vault with a mark of 9 feet, 1 1/2 inches, third in the high jump with a height of 4 feet, 9 3/4 inches, and seventh in the javelin with a throw of 78 feet, 9 inches.
C-SC also did damage in the 3000-meter steeple chase where they had three athletes finish in the top eight.
Malia Carmack set a school record in the event, finishing in a time of 12:40.19, to place fifth overall. Emma Berry placed seventh overall with a time of 13:04.24, while Erin Peppler was eighth with a time of 13:07.20.
Kinlie Judd was declared the winner in the pole vault as she matched Monney's height of 9 feet, 1 1/2 inches but did so in fewer attempts.
The other athlete to register a top eight finish for the Wildcats was Faith Hopgood who placed seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 133 feet, 2 inches.
The women's team is scheduled to compete in the Grand View Relays this Friday, April 24, in Des Moines, Iowa. A select few will also compete this week in the Drake Relays in Des Moines, April 22-25.
