Peppler Hits Qualifying Standard in the Race Walk at CMU Invitational

The Culver-Stockton women's track team's trip to the Central Methodist University Invitational in Fayette, Mo., was highlighted by Erin Peppler qualifying of her first career national meet.

Peppler placed second in the 5000-meter race walk in a time 28:43.19, which is under the provisional qualifying standard of 29:51. The mark ranks third in the Heart of America Athletic Conference and 10th in the NAIA.

In other events, Malia Carmack set a personal best time in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:31.32, which is the fourth-highest mark in program history. Carmack placed 14th overall in the event.

Samantha Stone placed 11th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:11.84, which is the fifth-highest mark in school history. The time was also a personal best for Stone.

In field events, Faith Hopgood recorded a pair of top 10 finishes in the hammer throw and the discus, respectively. Hopgood set a personal best in the hammer throw and placed eighth overall with a mark of 141 feet, 11 inches. That mark is the second-highest mark in program history. In the discus, Hopgood finished ninth overall with a mark of 118 feet, two inches. 

The Wildcats are scheduled to compete next weekend, April 3-4, at the Mustang Distance Carnival hosted by Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
