Women's Track Wins Own Wildcat Relays To Begin Outdoor Campaign
The Culver-Stockton women's track and field team garnered 196 team points to win the season-opening Wildcat Relays at Richeson Track/Poulton Stadium Saturday afternoon in Canton.
UHSP finished second in the event with 167 points while State Fair was third with 154 team points. Hannibal-LaGrange placed fourth in the team standings with 18 points.
The Wildcats won seven event titles with Malia Carmack winning two of the events. Carmack captured the 800-meter run with a personal best time of 2:36.32. She also claimed the 1,500-meter run in a time of 5:36.44.
Other event winners on the track were Samantha Stone in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:12.31 and Emma Berry in the 3000 steeple chase with a time of 13:42.71.
In field events, the winners included Abagail Mooney in the high jump with a jump of 4 feet, 9 ¾ inches, Kinlie Judd in the pole vault with a mark of 9 feet, 1 ½ inches, and Faith Hopgood in the hammer throw with a toss of 127 feet, 9 inches.
The Wildcats are scheduled to compete in the Central Methodist Open this Saturday, March 21, in Fayette, Mo. The first events are slated to begin at 10 a.m.
