Women's Track and Field Place Third at Hilltop Invitational
The Culver-Stockton College women's track and field team placed third among eight teams competing in the Hilltop Invitational Saturday afternoon at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
The Wildcats recorded eight top three finishes to propel them to 92 points, finishing behind Grinnell's 129 team points.
C-SC's Emma Smith claimed one event title, winning the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.97 seconds. Victoria Pollard placed fifth overall in the 60 with personal best 8.25 seconds.
The other event title came from the 4x800 relay team who completed the circuit in 11:28.95. The team consisted of Malia Carmack, Lexi Clark, Caroline Lindsey and Zoi Smith. The 4x200 reley team finished second with a time of 1:53.21.
Delaney Straus and Kinlie Judd earned second place finishes in the long jump and the pole vault, respectively. Straus hit a mark of 15 feet, 11 inches, while Judd vaulted eight feet, 6 1/4 inches.
Donyall Sharp broke her own school record in the weight throw and finished third in that event with a toss of 47 feet, 11 1/4 inches. Straus garnered a third place finish in the 800-meter run with at time of 2:21.08, while Pollard hit her second personal best of the day, this time in the 200-meter dash with third place finish in a time of 27.97 seconds.
Straus will compete in the Dutch Winter Multi Meet this Friday, Jan. 31 in Pella, Iowa, before the rest of the team travels to Grinnell, Iowa to compete in the Grinnell Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 1.
