Women's Track Competes in the Battle in the Hive
The Culver-Stockton College women's track and field team had just three athletes competing in the Battle at the Hive event hosted by Saint Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.
Delaney Straus finished first in two events, setting a school record in one of them, to lead the women's team.
Straus set a school record in winning the 400-meter run with a time of 1:01.39, topping the previous mark of 1:02.07 by Kayci Yelliott in 2009. Straus also placed first in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:40.21, and placed eighth overall in the long jump with a leap of 16 feet, 0 1/4 inches.
Kinlie Judd placed third in the pole vault, matching her own school record of 9 feet, 0 1/4 inches that she shares with Zoi Smith.
Emma Berry competed in the mile run and placed seventh overall in a time of 6:15.96. That time is a personal best for Berry and is good enough for the fifth-highest mark in school history.
The Wildcats will take their full team to Saint Ambrose next Saturday, Jan. 18, for the Bumble Rumble. The first events are slated to begin at 11 a.m.
