Women's Soccer Shutout for Second Consecutive Game

The Culver-Stockton women's soccer team was blanked for the second consecutive game in a 2-0 road loss to Missouri Baptist University Saturday night in St. Louis, Mo.

The Wildcats, who were shutout 3-0 by Park (Mo.) on Wednesday, has not scored in 197 minutes and 16 seconds. Their last goal came on a penalty kick by Rian Moore in a 2-1 victory over William Penn (Iowa) last Saturday.

Against the Spartans, C-SC found themselves playing from behind early when Missouri Baptist notched the first goal of the game in the eighth minute.

The Wildcats were outshot 5-4 in the first half and of the four shots by C-SC, only Lexi Clark's attempt in the 26th minute was on frame.

In the second half, C-SC upped the pressure, out-shooting the Spartans 9-5 in there half with six of those shots being on goal.

Alayna Chandler-Gutierrez led the Wildcats with two shots on goal and both of those attempts came in back-to-back shots in the first six minutes of the second half. In all, C-SC put five of their six second half shots on goal in the first 11 minutes of the second half; however, couldn't get one past the MBU goalkeeper.

The Spartans, who had four shots on goal, added an insurance goal in the 74th minute to secure the victory. C-SC managed just one shot on goal over the final 34 minutes of the game.

C-SC (4-2-1 overall and 1-2-0 in the Heart) is scheduled to host Mount Mercy University this Wednesday, Sept. 17, at Ellison Poulton Stadium. Game time is slated for 5 p.m.
