Women's Soccer Begins 2025 with Big Victory over Waldorf
Six different players netted goals as the Culver-Stockton College women's soccer team began the season with an east 8-0 victory over Waldorf (Iowa) University Friday night at Ellison Poulton Stadium.
The Wildcats, who have won eight straight season openers, scored four times in the first half and four time in the second half. C-SC registered 35 shots overall and put 25 shots on frame.
Sophomore Rian Moore from Quincy, Ill., got the Wildcats rolling wirh a pair of goals in the first seven minutes of the contest. The second tally came off the first of seven corner kicks by the Wildcats.
Alayna Chandler-Gutierrez, who led the Wildcats with 14 goals last season, dished out three assists in the season opener.
In addition to Moore, five other players added a goal each for the Wildcats with Isabel Herrera, Breah Morris, and Alexa Collao garnering their first career goals. Halle Jennex and Lola Weise also added one goal each, while the Wildcats were also the beneficiary of an own goal by the Warriors.
Junior goalkeeper Sam Link, making her first collegiate start, went the distance and made two saves in recording her first career shutout.
The Wildcats are scheduled to play again this Wednesday, Aug. 27, at Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. Game time is is set for 7 p.m.
