Bio

Tyler Tomlinson was named Culver-Stockton College's fourth women's soccer coach in February of 2011.

Tomlinson is the all-time winningest coach in program history with an 126-106-24 overall record, including a 13-4-2 mark in 2021, tying the school record for victories in a season, which was set in 2003. Tomlinson also led the Wildcats to their best conference finish in 2021, finishing fourth in the league with an 8-3-1 record. In 2014 Tomlinson led the Wildcats to the postseason for the first time in school history, advancing to the championship game of the Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament. Tomlinson coached teams have finished with a non-losing record in eight of his 14 seasons as head coach. Tomlinson's teams have twice been named the Musco Team Sportsmanship Award, earning the honor in 2022 and 2023. His 2022 team earned the Ethics and Good Sportsmanship Award from United Soccer Coaches in 2022. Tomlnson was named the Heart Women's Soccer Coach of the Year in 2021. 

In addition, Tomlinson has had 31 players named to the Heart of America Athletic Conference all-conference team, including four first team performers. Kehley Bitzas, a first team goalkeeper, went on to earn NAIA All-America honorable mention honors in 2018. He has also had 79 players named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Tomlinson has also had two players, Brittney McMahon in 2015, and Leah Miller in 2016 and 2017, named to the NSCAA All-Midwest Region team during his tenure. Both earned second team honors. Bitzas Jody Ellis have been named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Midwest Region team. Two players, Bitzas and Montse Caparros, have earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, while four oher players earned all-district honors. Bitzas was a second team selection in 2019 while Caparros was a second team pick in 2021. After the 2020 season, Jody Ellis and Julianne Baltimore were named to the United Soccer Coaches North Central Region All-Scholar Team. Ellis repeated that honor in 2021.

Tomlinson, who also is a lecturer in communication and media coordinator for the athletic department, coached at the club level from 2000-03, directing two teams at the U16 boys level at Quincy (Ill.) United Soccer Club. Six of his former players went on to play soccer at the college level.

A 2003 graduate of Culver-Stockton, Tomlinson was a four-year starter and three-year captain as a defender/midfielder for the Wildcat soccer program. He totaled 12 career goals and 10 assists for 34 career points, and was named the most valuable player by his teammates his senior season after netting seven goals and two assists.

Tomlinson graduated with a bachelor's degree in communication, and received his master's degree in mass communication from the University of Central Missouri in 2009. He previously worked as a sports anchor at WGEM TV in Quincy, Ill., and was co-host of WGEM Sportscenter, a daily talk sports show on WGEM AM radio.
