Women's Lacrosse Drops Season Opener to Missouri Baptist
The Culver-Stockton women's lacrosse team opened the 2026 season with a 24-4 loss to Missouri Baptist University Thursday afternoon at Ellison Poulton Stadium in Canton.
The Wildcats got off to a fast start as Karson Jackson gave the hosts a 1-0 lead just 1:26 into the game.
However, the Spartans scored the next six goals before Addison Holm took a pass from Mia Naughton for C-SC's second goal of the game.
After a flurry of goals in the opening period that ended with MBU leading 8-2, both teams tightened the defenses and only three goals were scored with the Wildcats netting one goal by Brookelyn Lindberg.
Leaving 10-3 at the intermission, Missouri Baptist controlled the second half, outscoring the Wildcats 14-1 in the final 30 minutes. The Spartans registered 22 shots to C-SC's one in the second half. Lindberg scored C-SC's only goal in the opening minute of the half.
Missouri Baptist dominated the control with a 25-4 edge in draws. The Spartans were also a perfect 7-for-7 on clears and held a 33-12 advantage on ground balls.
The Wildcats (0-1) will hope for a better outcome in their next game this Tuesday, Feb. 24, against Health Sciences and Pharmacy. Game time is stated for 4 p.m. at Poulton Stadium.
