Women's Bowling Reach Title Match at Cougar Clash
The Culver-Stockton women's bowling team ended the first semester by finishing second in the Cougar Clash at Columbia College Dec. 6-7 in Columbia, Mo.
The Wildcats qualified for the bracket finals by finishing third overall with 5,953 total pins over four team games and 16 baker games. The Wildcats garnered 3,297 pins in four team games and 2.656 pins in the 16 baker games.
In bracket play, C-SC defeated second-seeded Avila (Mo.) University in the semifinals two games to one. The Wildcats won the first game 194-185, dropped game two 187-183, before winning the deciding game 193-173.
Facing Ottawa (Kan.) University in the title match, C-SC lost the first game 154-143. The Wildcats stayed alive by winning game two 186-167; however, C-SC couldn't keep the momentum in game three, falling 196-162 in the deciding game.
Individually, Rachel Moore collected another all-tournament team accolade by finishing fourth overall. Moore started slowly with games of 174 and 164 in the opening two games. However, in the final two games, Moore registered scores of 203 and 223 to finish with a total of 764, or an average of 191.0.
Moore was complimented by Jersey Lessenger's 16th place finish and Andi Woods' 19th place finish, respectively. Lessenger recorded 673 total pins for an average of 168.3, while Woods had 657 pins for an average of 164.3.
The Wildcats are set to break for the holidays before resuming their season Jan. 17-18 at the Kegal ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic in Addison, Ill.
