Oetting's Last Second Shot Lifts Wildcats to Ninth Straight Victory

Avery Oetting made a jump shot from the right baseline as time expired to help the Culver-Stockton women's basketball team extend its winning streak to nine games with a 49-48 victory over Clarke University Wednesday night in Dubuque,Iowa.

The Wildcats trailed 48-47 after Clarke's Zoe Kennedy scored with two seconds remaining. After a timeout by C-SC advanced the ball to the front court, the Wildcats got the ball to Oetting who drove the baseline and got a shot off and made the basket before the buzzer sounded.

The Wildcats won despite scoring their season low in points and making a season-tying 19 field goals in the game. C-SC was 3-for-20 from the 3-point arc but went a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line.

In the fourth quarter, the Wildcats built their biggest lead of the game to 47-41 with a 13-7 spurt to begin the final period.

However, Clarke held the Wildcats scoreless and outscored the Wildcats 7-0 in the final 3:40 of the game before Oetting's shot saved the Wildcats at the final horn.
