Wildcats Win at Missouri Valley for Seventh Straight Victory

The Culver-Stockton women's basketball team erased an early first quarter deficit and went on to claim its seventh straight victory with a 67-50 decision over Missouri Valley College at the Burns Athletic Complex in Marshall, Mo., Wednesday night.

The Wildcats fell behind the Vikings 14-5 in the early moments of the game before a 20-4 run gave C-SC a 25-18 advantage after the first quarter.

The visitors outscored Missouri Valley in each quarter and never trailed after the early goiing, leading 41-32 at halftime, and 58-42 at the end of three quarters.

Defense has played a key role during the winning streak.

The Wildcats have allowed just 49.4 points per game while holding opponents to a .359 field goal percentage during this stretch of games. C-SC has also forced 18.4 turnovers per game, including 24 turnovers by the Vikings Wednesday night, leading to a 21-8 edge on points off turnovers.

Four players scored in double figures for the Wildcats with Chloe Burnham coming off the bench to match her Wildcat high with 14 markers. It was the third time this season Burnham has netted 14 points in a game.

Misora Nambara added 12 points and a game-high five assists while Avery Oetting chipped in with 11 points and four steals. Nevaiah Bell-Tenner was the fourth player in double figures with 10 points and she matched Oetting with four steals. Haley Webb also had four steals as the Wildcats registered 17 steals in the game.

C-SC, now 12-6 overall and 6-4 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, is scheduled to return home this Saturday, Jan. 17, to play Park University in a league contest. Game time is slated for 2 p.m. at Charles Field House.
