Wildcats Bests Missouri Baptist for Fifth Straight Victory

The Culver-Stockton women's basketball team posted its fifth straight victory with 70-45 Heart of America Athletic Conference decision over Missouri Baptist University Wednesday night at Charles Field House.

The Wildcats used a stifling defense that limited the Spartans to 29 percent shooting from the field. In addition, C-SC forced 17 MBU turnovers and turned those miscues into 25 overall points.

The Wildcat defense has been stingy during the five-game winning streak, holding opponents to just 42.6 points per game over that time period. C-SC has allowed less than 50 points in five games overall this season, including three of the last five played.

Misora Nambara led two players in double figures with 16 points. Nambara also led the Wildcats with six assists.

Avery Oetting, who tied a school record with 40 points in Saturday's victory over Graceland, was limited to 14 points but led the defense with four steals. She eclipsed the 1,300 point mark for her career and currently has 1,304 points

The Wildcats out-rebounded the visitors 42-36 and grabbed 17 caroms on the offensive end that led to 17 second chance points. Nevaiah Bell-Tenner totaled eight caroms while Haley Webb had seven rebounds.

The Wildcats, now 10-6 overall and 4-4 in the Heart, are scheduled to play at Baker University this Saturday, Jan. 10, in Baldwin City, Kan. Game time is set for 12 p.m. at the Collins Center.
