Bell-Tenner's Double-Double Lifts Wildcats to Victory
Nevaiah Bell-Tenner registered her second straight double-double to help the Culver-Stockton women's basketball team to a 54-42 victory over Warner University on the final day of the Warner Classic Saturday in Lake Wales, Fla.
Bell-Tenner, who had a double-double in the Wildcats' 56-36 victory Friday over Truett McConnell (Ga.), scored a team-high 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for C-SC, which won its third consecutive game.
Despite shooting a season-low 29.6 percent from the field, the Wildcats were able to pull away in the second half after a low-scoring first half which ended with C-SC leading 23-21.
C-SC overcame the poor shooting performance by forcing 15 Royal turnovers leading to 16 points, and out-rebounding the hosts 41-26 overall. Of those 41 caroms, the Wildcats grabbed 17 offensive rebounds that led to 18 second chance points.
In addition to her scoring, Bell-Tenner added a team-high four steals in the game. Avery Oetting reached double figures with 13 points while Misora Nambara dished out four assists.
The Wildcats (8-6) will take a few days off to celebrate the holidays before returning to Heart of America Athletic Conference action on Saturday, Jan. 3, against Graceland University. Game time is set for 2 p.m. at Charles Field House.
