Oetting's Career Night Helps Wildcats Hold Off CMU

Avery Oetting registered a career-high 30 points to help the Culver-Stockton women's basketball team upend Central Methodist University 81-73 at Charles Field House Thursday night.

Oetting recorded 18 of her 30 points in the second half, including 12 points in the third quarter, draining four of her game-high six 3-pointers in the period. Oetting previous career high was 26 points at Shawnee State (Ohio) last season. Oetting also finished with five rebounds and four assists.

Three other Wildcat players reached double figures to complement Oetting's effort. Katie Webb totaled 18 points while Elly Bentley garnered 12 markers and Misora Nambara finished with 11 points. All three players equaled Oetting with five rebounds, while Nambara dished out a team-best five assists.

The Wildcats shot 46 percent from the field, including 48 percent from the 3-point arc. C-SC drained 11 of its 23 trey attempts in the game. The Wildcats also doubled up CMU at the foul line, outscoring the visitors 16-8.

C-SC which is now 5-0 in conference home games this season, will get an opportunity to improve to 6-0 this Saturday, Jan. 11, when the Wildcats host Peru State College at Charles Field House. Game time is set for noon. The Bobcats handed the Wildcats an 80-75 loss earlier this season in Peru, Neb.
