Wildcats Beat HLGU by 30 to Pick Up First Victory

The Culver-Stockton women's basketball team rebounded from Friday's season-opening loss to Viterbo by crushing Hannibal-LaGrange University 66-36 Saturday afternoon in the final game of the Atrium on Third Hotel Classic at Charles Field House.

The Wildcats forced 26 Trojan turnovers, registered 20 steals and out-rebounded the visitors 45-34, including 21 offensive rebounds. C-SC scored 38 points off turnovers and second chances, netting 21 points off HLG miscues and 17 second chance points.

Four players scored in double figures for the Wildcats with Nevaiah Bell-Tenner and Misora Nambara totaling 12 points each. Avery Oetting and Addison Newbon chipped in with 10 markers each. Bell-Tenner led the Wildcats with seven reb0unds.

Katie Webb narrowly missed reaching double figures, finishing with nine points, while her sister Haley Webb came off the bench to add eight points. 

Haley Webb and Oetting each registered four steals each to lead C-SC, while Olivia Hopp had four assists to lead the Wildcats in that category. Oetting and Elizabeth Reed garnered three assists apiece.

C-SC (1-0) and HLGU will meet again this Saturday, Nov. 9, in Hannibal, Mo. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Porter Gymnasium.
