Softball Outhit 26-8 in Doubleheader Loss to MNU
The Culver-Stockton softball team was outhit 26-8 and outscored 15-1 in a doubleheader loss to MidAmerica Nazarene University Friday afternoon at Himsl Field in Canton,Mo.
The Pioneers registered 14 hits in an 8-0 victory in the opener while collecting 12 hits in a 7-1 decision in the nightcap. The Wildcats were limited to four hits in each game.
In the opener, MNU took a 1-0 lead in the second inning and then added two runs in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth inning to build a 7-0 lead.
Kataleena Hunt led the Wildcat offense with two of the four hits in the game, including a double. Myah Briese also recorded a double in the game.
In the nightcap, C-SC took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Cierra Bush singled, advanced to second on a groundout and scored when the left fielder booted a single by Payton Todd.
The Pioneers tied the game in the third inning, and then took the lead for good in the fourth frame on a leadoff solo home run by Brie Manwarren. MNU was didn't stop there, loading the bases with three hits and then getting a two out, three run double to break the game open.
The Wildcats were held to four singles in the game. Hunt tallied one of the singles to finish with three hits overall in the two games.
The Wildcats are scheduled to return to action next Friday, April 18, for a doubleheader at Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. Game times are set for 1 and 3 p.m.
