Poor defense continues to plague the Culver-Stockton College softball team as it nears the start of the conference season.
The Wildcats committed five errors in a non-conference doubleheader loss to Columbia College Tuesday afternoon at Himsl Field. C-SC recorded three errors in a 12-5 loss in the first game, and two errors in a 13-5 setback in the nightcap.
The Wildcats collected eight hits, were issued three walks and was aided by two errors in game one but could only manage five runs in the contest.
Tiffany Lepic registered two hits while six other players recorded one hit each. Kataleena Hunt, Ryley Pecina and Shelby Daniels all had two-base hits for the home team.
In the nightcap, the Wildcats banged out nine hits with Myah Briese leading the way with two hits, including a solo home run, and two runs batted in. Hunt and Pecina also had two hits and a RBI each.
The Wildcats are scheduled to begin Heart of America Athletic Conference play this Saturday with a doubleheader at Park University in Parkville, Mo. The first game is slated to start at q 1 p.m.
