Softball Plates Two Runs in Two Games to Begin Season

The Culver-Stockton College softball team opened its season with two games in the Dordt Softball Classic at the American State Bank Sports Complex in Sioux Center, Iowa, Friday night.

The Wildcats opened the day with an 11-1 loss to 11th-ranked Northwestern (Iowa) in six innings. C-SC finished a long day with a 6-1 setback to Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.) late Friday night.

In the first game, the Wildcats scored in the first inning on a RBI single by Kataleena Hunt, scoring Lacey Stamper who had led off the frame with a double. Hunt and Stamper collected two hits each in the game.

In the second game, C-SC trailed 4-0 before the Wildcats plated their only run in the sixth inning. Lauren Waller singled to start the inning, moved to third on a double by Cierra Bush, and scored on a groundout by Hunt.

The Wildcats will be back. in action again on Saturday, Feb. 1, when they play Doane (Neb.) at 4 p.m. and host Dordt (Iowa) at 6 p.m. to end tournament play.
