Another Week, Another School Record for Men's Cross Country, Logan Lucas
For a second straight season, the Culver-Stockton College men's cross country team competed in the Luther All-American Invitational in Decorah, Iowa, and came home with a new school record.
The Wildcats bested the school record for the four-mile run Saturday with a team overall time of 2:00.35, topping the previous mark they set last season of 2:03:03 by nearly three minutes. C-SC placed fifth in the team standings with 166 points. Macalester (Minn.) won the event with a team time of 1:45:12.
Logan Lucas also etched his name in the record book with his 14th place overall finish in the event. Lucas broke his own school record of 21:37.3, that he set last year in this same event, with a time of 21:30.1.
Gannon McNamee also moved up the school's top 10 list and posted the second fastest time in program history in the four-mile distance. McNamee completed the course in a time of 23:17.6 to finish 57th overall.
Other Wildcats competing included Kile Dowd, who placed 82nd overall with a time of 24:23.0, and Jailan Reynaga, who finished 95th overall with a time of 25:02.6. Chase Lake improved his time from a year ago by three minutes, finishing in a time of 26:21.7 and placing 108th overall. Kenny Tucker rounded out the six Wildcat runners with a time of 27:21.9 and a 116th place finish.
C-SC will take the next two weeks off before it competes in the Seminole Valley Stampede at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The men's race is slated to begin at 9:30 a.m.
