Cross Country returned to the athletic landscape at Culver-Stockton College Friday night after a one-year hiatus and it didn't take long for the runners to make their mark.

Competing in Mount Mercy University's Corridor Clash 5-kilometer race at Seminole Valley Trail in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the men's team quickly established new school team and individual records 

The Wildcats registered a team overall time of 1:32.03 to place seventh behind top finisher Cornell (Iowa), which recorded a time of 1:19.12. However, the total time for C-SC broke the 5K school record of 1:44.58, which was set during the 2013 season. 

Individually, Logan Lucas smashed the 5-kilometer individual school record, placing 15th overall with a time of 16:22. That mark was more than three minutes better than the record of 18:53 set by Miguel Oregon in 2015.

But Lucas wan't the only runner to impress during the race. 

Three other runners, Kile Dowd (18:08), Gannon McNamee (18:19) and Kenny Tucker (18:38) all bested the old record. All three hit their personal bests with their efforts.

The Wildcats are slated to run again next week, Saturday, Sept. 9, at the Luther All-American Invitational in Decorah, Iowa. The women are set to start at 11:45 a.m. with the men's race scheduled for 12:15 p.m.
