Wildcats Sweep Avila for Second Victory

Five players recorded five or more kills to lead the Culver-Stockton men's volleyball team to its second victory of the season with a three-set sweep over Avila University (Mo.) Saturday night at Charles Field House.

The Wildcats snapped a 12-match losing streak with a 25-14, 25-15, 25-23 non-conference victory over the Eagles.

C-SC started with strong first set that saw them commit just one attack error on 23 attempts while registering 12 kills in the set for a .478 hitting percentage. The Wildcats finished the match with a .263 attack percentage.

Cooper Varner led the Wildcats with six terminations while Clyde Harold, Rico Davis, Rio Victor, and Henry Reeves all contributed five kills in the match. Matt Reese dish out 18 set assists, while Kirvan Hughes had 10 set assists.

The Wildcats also had 8.5 team blocks with two solo blocks and 13 block assists. Harold and Reeves each recorded a solo block and two block assists, while Victor, Zach Kowalewicz, Drew VonFeldt and  Bill Clarke Frederick all had two blocks assists each.

The Wildcats begin a three-match road swing this Tuesday, March 17, at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
