Men's Volleyball Wins First Two Sets; Fall to Jaguars in Five

The Culver-Stockton men's volleyball team fell to 0-5 in five set matches after a 24-26, 19-25, 25-15, 25-20, 15-7 loss to Governors State University Saturday afternoon in Chicago, Ill.

The Wildcats, who lost a five-setter to Roosevelt University Friday night, came out of the gates firing against the Jaguars Saturday, winning the first two sets with an attack percentage of .346. C-SC had 26 kills and eight errors on 52 attempts in th first two sets.

The attack percentage dropped off drastically in the third set that saw the Wildcats hit at .200 for the set. C-SC registered a .346 hitting rate in the fourth set, but the 10th set in less than 24 hours took effect in the fifth set when they recorded just five kills. Overall, the Wildcats hit at a .281 clip for the match.

C-SC had three players with double figures in kills with Henry Reeves leading the way with a season-high 18 terminations. Zach Kowalewicz totaled 12 kills while Malachi Gnade garnered 11 kills. Matt Reese and Owen Randle combined for 44 set assist with Reese contributing 24 assists.

The Wildcats had 11 team blocks in the match with Reeves and Rio Victor registering three solo blocks each. Kowalewicz and Reese also had three blocks with on solo and two block assists each. Reeves led the back line with eight digs.

The Wildcats (0-11) are back at Charles Field House this Tuesday, Feb. 25, against Missouri Baptist University. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
