Drew Mallett Named Field Athlete of the Week by the Heart
Culver-Stockton College senior Drew Mallett was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week after he won the decathlon at the Central Methodist Invitational last weekend in Fayette, Mo.
Mallett, of LaGrange, Mo. (Highland HS), accumulated 6133 points to easily outdistance runner-up Waisale Inoke of Central Methodist by 190 points. Mallett won three of the 10 events and did not finish lower than fourth in any event in the lineup. The 6,133 points is the highest in the Heart of America Athletic Conference and fifth-highest in the NAIA this season.
Mallet won the pole vault with a personal best height of 12 feet, 7 1/2 inches. He also won the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.91 seconds, and the javelin throw with a toss of 147 feet, 11 inches.
Mallett is scheduled to compete in the decathlon at the Dutch Spring Multi April 8-9 at Central College in Pella, Iowa.
