Men's Track Place Ninth at Heart Championships; Mallett Repeats as Decathlon Champion

The Culver-Stockton College men's track and field team recorded 40 team points to finish in a tie for ninth place with Baker University at the 2025 Heart of America Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships May 2-3 in Fayette, Mo. Central Methodist won the team portion with 196 team points.

The Wildcats were led by junior Drew Mallett, who captured the decathlon for the second straight year with a school record 6,391 points. Mallett held off Central Methodist's Cary Hunter who totaled 6,371 points to place second.

Senior Jabez Rivers earned all-conference third team honors in both the 110 hurdles and the 400 hurdles during the weekend. Rivers finished third in the 110 hurdles in a time of 14.77 seconds, and third in the 400 hurdles in a time of 55.35 seconds.

Ayden Hodges and Judah Rivers joined Mallett and Jabez Rivers to finish fifth in the relay with a time of 42.75 seconds.

Kenny Tucker had a good weekend for the Wildcats, earning all-conference honors in two events. Tucker placed third in the 5000 race walk with a time of 28:25.25, and set a personal high mark in the decathlon with a total of 4,216 points to place sixth overall.

In other notable events, Gannon McNamee was lauded with all-conference honors in the 5000 race walk with a sixth place finish in a time of 32:11.72. Mallett placed eight in the javelin with a throw of 154 feet, 0 inches.

The Wildcats are scheduled to compete in one or two Last Chance meets next weekend, May 9-10, at sites to be determined.
