Rivers Breaks Two Individual School Records at the Bumble Rumble
The Culver-Stockton College men's track and field team competed in the Bumble Rumble at Saint Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats set three school records, two individual records and one relay record, led by Jabez Rivers, who had a hand in all three marks.
Rivers broke the school record in the 60-meter hurdles by finishing second overall with a time of 8.40 seconds. That mark broke the previous record of 8.45 seconds by Logan Buck at the Darren Young Classic in 2024.
The second individual record by Rivers came in the 600-meter run where he finished 16th overall with a time of 1:28.12. That mark breaks the record of 1:28.33 by Sean Cleary at the 2022 Dutch Holiday Preview.
The third record set by the Wildcats came in the distance medley relay in which Rivers was a member of the four-member team. The Wildcats placed second overall with a time of 11:16.72, breaking old mark of 11:18.91 at the 2009 Jim Green Invitational. Joining Rivers on the record-breaking team were Jailan Reynaga, Judah Rivers and Logan Lucas.
Lucas also earned a second place finish in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:39.11. Gannon McNamee placed sixth overall with a time of 17:22.55 while Kile Dowd placed seventh with a time of 17:50.55.
The Wildcats are back in action next Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Hilltop Invitational in Mount Vernon, Iowa, at Cornell College. That meet is slated to begin at 11 a.m.
