Wildcats Finish Third at Finals Week Invitational; Tucker hits B Standard in Racewalk

The Culver-Stockton College men's track and field team registered 59 points to finish third among six collegiate teams competing in the Finals Week Invitational at the Wellness and Recreation Center at Saint Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa, Friday and Saturday.

The Wildcats got the bulk of their points in the 5000-meter run where they had three competitors finish in the top six in the field.

Gannon McNamee and Kile Dowd each set personal bests in the event to lead the Wildcat trio. McNamee finished second in the event with a time of 17:16.94 while Dowd was third overall with a time of 17:29.06. Chase Lake was the third member of the team, finishing sixth overall with a time of 19:12.96.

The Wildcats also picked up a pair of first place finishes during the weekend. Kenny Tucker hit the a provisional qualifying standard while winning the 3000-meter race walk with a time of 15:50.01.

Drew Mallett finished first in the heptathlon during the event. Mallett just missed his personal high in points of 4,315 set last season, finishing with 4,310 points. Mallett also earned points in the 200-meter dash, finishing eighth with a time of 23.15 seconds, which was also a personal best.

In other events, Jabez Rivers placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.27 seconds, while Logan Lucas set a personal record in the 3000-meter run and finishing fifth overall with a time of 8:59.01.

After taking some time off for the holidays, the Wildcats will return to Saint Ambrose on Saturday, Jan. 11, for the Battle in the Hive event. The first events are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
