High Jumpers Come Up Short at NAIA Outdoor Championships
Culver-Stockton College high jumpers Logan Holmer and Jermaine Jones fell short in their effort to win the high jump competition at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala., Friday night.
Jones, who finished second at the NAIA Outdoor event last season, was able to clear the opening height of 6 feet, 7 inches (2.01 meters) on his final attempt. However, he missed all three attempts at the next height of 6 feet, 9 inches (2.06 meters) and was eliminated.
Holmer, who qualified automatically with a jump of 6 feet, 10 inches (2.08m) in winning the Heart of America Athletic Conference title earlier this month, went out on the opening height of 6 feet, 7 inches (2.01m), missing on all three attempts.
Tori Brooks of Davenport (Mich.) University won the event with a jump of 7 feet, 0½ inches (2.15 meters).
