Men's Soccer Blanked by Northwestern in First Road Test

The Culver-Stockton College men's soccer team failed to register a goal in a 4-0 road loss to Northwestern College at NWC Soccer Complex in Orange City, Iowa, Wednesday afternoon.

The Wildcats trailed 1-0 after the first 45 minutes despite holding a 7-6 edge in shots. The Raiders exploded for three goals in the second half and outshot the visitors 12-7 in the half even though they played a man down for. the final 24 minutes of the game due to a red card.

C-SC also held a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks, but all five re-starts came in the first half. Northwestern finished with an 18-14 edge in shots overall, making the most of their opportunities with 12 shots on goal. By contrast, the Wildcats managed to put just two of their 14 shots on target.

Riccardo Fornisari and Ethan Wilkinson-Felgate led the offense with three shots each. Tobias Vales and Lucas Kim were the only C-SC players to put shots on goal.

C-SC (0-1-1) returns to action next Saturday, Aug. 31, with another road contest at Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis, Mo. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m.
