Men's Soccer Shutout by MidAmerica Nazarene

MidAmerica Nazarene scored twice in the second half to post a 2-0 shutout victory over the Culver-Stockton College men's soccer team Saturday night at Ellison Poulton Stadium.

The Wildcats and Pioneers were scoreless until the 67th minute when a foul was called on C-SC inside the penalty area, giving the visitors a penalty kick. Winder Pessoa took the kick and slid just past the out-stretched arms of Wildcat goal keeper Ryan Houston for a 1-0 lead.

With a goal in to break the deadlock, the Pioneers quickly found another opportunity with a quick transition and goal in the 70th minute to make it 2-0. Jayedon Manswell was beneficiary of a crossing pass from the right corner by Benny Martinez.

C-SC was outshot 26-5 in the contest and Houston kept the game from getting out of hand by making 11 saves in the game, some in spectacular fashion. Lewis Fairley had the only two shots for the Wildcats on frame.

The Wildcats will play their final home game of the 2020 season this Monday, Nov. 16, against Evangel University at Poulton Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
